Sign in, and what to do when you cannot

Where your dashboard lives, what the sign in screen asks for, and how a staff password gets reset.

3 min readUpdated

Your dashboard is at your own web address, the one you chose at signup, with /login on the end. It looks like yourbusiness.stockovaa.com/login. There is no shared address that everybody uses.

The screen reads Welcome back and asks for Email or username and Password. The button is Sign in. If you have added a custom domain, that address works too.

  • Check the address first. A staff member signing in at the wrong subdomain gets a real login screen belonging to somebody else's business, and their password will never work on it.
  • Try the username as well as the email address. The field accepts either.
  • Ask the account owner. There is no self service password reset for staff. The owner opens User List, edits the person and sets a new password, or presses Generate for a fresh one.
  • If the whole business is locked out with a message about the subscription having expired, that is billing rather than passwords. Renewing restores access.

The forgot password link on a storefront belongs to your shoppers, not to your staff. It resets a customer account on your online shop and does nothing for a dashboard login.

One login is marked Primary account. It is the one your subscription is attached to, and it cannot be deleted, deactivated or moved off the owner role. Give everybody else their own login rather than sharing it.

Sharing one login also destroys every report that says who did what, because every sale, every adjustment and every price change is recorded against whoever was signed in.
